COVID-19 and your Insurance: What is Covered?

by | Oct 31, 2021 | Insurance

In the wake of the extraordinary circumstances and the impact of COVID-19 on all facets of our lives, Spratt Financial Group is here to provide information on your insurance and what you could be covered for. If you have any specific questions regarding your cover or require more information, you can call us to discuss any concerns that you have. We have Zoom, Skype and Loom video conferencing available as well as phone, texting and email. You can call us directly or fill out the contact form at the bottom of this page and our team will get back to you.

In the meantime, it is important to keep in mind the simple precautions of hand washing and sanitising, personal spacing and avoiding unnecessary social contact.

REDUNDANCY COVER

Redundancy cover varies in its terms and conditions but your ability to claim depends on the details by which you become “disconnected” from your employer. These circumstances may vary enormously from cases to case and once the terms are known, we can specifically advise you on a range of options that may apply.

LIFE INSURANCE

Your existing life insurance will cover you for death caused by accident or illness.

TRAUMA INSURANCE

COVID-19 is not a trauma claim in and of itself, however the illness may lead to complications and side-effects which are covered under your trauma insurance policy. If you are unsure, we will examine your individual policy wording and advise you.

INCOME PROTECTION AND MORTGAGE REPAYMENT COVER

This will cover you if you are prevented from working by accident or illness. If you are still unable to work for this reason after your policy’s specific waiting period, then submitting a claim would be available to you.

PERMANENT DISABLEMENT COVER

This will similarly cover you if consequences and side effects of Covid-19 prevent you ever going back to your work again.

HEALTH/MEDICAL INSURANCE

Medical Insurance covers the cost of specialist consultations and treatment, if it is available in the private sector. Acute or urgent admission to a carefully screened public hospital network seem to be way in which the virus is currently being handled. All public health organisations, including your General Practitioner/Medical Centre are adamant that if you are displaying Covid19-like symptoms (all or some) that you do not present yourself unannounced at their premises and instead call Healthline on 0800 358 5453. PLACING PREMIUMS ON HOLD

The Spratt Financial Team has obtained clarification from the major insurers we deal with of the policies and requirements surrounding placing premiums on pause during the Covid-19 crisis. If you wish to enquiry about placing a policy on hold, you can contact us directly anytime.

CONTACT US

The Insurance, and many other Industries have been called upon to deal with a range of problems which have not been encountered to this degree in living memory. They are all looking to create flexible options that range from working at home through to flexible options with premium and mortgage payments. Some of these options have been publicised already and many more are on the drawing board. When we become aware of them and their application to our clients, we will again advise you.
